Dr. Manuel Feria-García is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada (Spain), the only one offering specialized Translation Studies in Arabic-Spanish of the Hispanic World, since 2003. He was appointed as guest or visiting professor and as visiting scholar in a number of prestige universities around the world: School of Translation of Toledo (Spain), Malik Fahd School of Translation (Tangier, Morocco), University of Sidi Muhammad Ibn Abdallah (Fes, Morocco), Monterey Institute of International Studies (California, USA), University of York (United Kingdom), Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain), University of Alcalá de Henares (Spain), Spanish National Research Council and the Spanish National Intelligence Centre, among others. For six years (1992-1997), Manuel Feria provided services as a Court Interpreter (Arabic-Spanish) at the District Court of Malaga (Spain). He also worked for fifteen years as sworn translator (Arabic-Spanish) and translated a number of books from Arabic and English into Spanish, including Los árabe ante la tradición (Nahnu wa-l-turath, by the Moroccan philosopher Muhammad Abid al-Jabri, published by the prestigious Spanish publishing house Trotta. In 2014 he selected as juror for the Spanish National Award of Translation. Since 2009, Manuel Feria has been temporary and contractual translator for the Spanish Section of the United Nations Office in Geneva. He has also lectured for the UN staff in Geneva on Islamic Law and Sharia. Manuel Feria¿s academic work focuses primarily on the fields of Translation, Islamic law and Sharia terminology. He is the author of several books and more than thirty articles. He particularly enjoyed writing his Diccionario de términos jurídicos árabe-español (Ed. Ariel, Barcelona 2006), the first dictionary of law terminology from Arabic into Spanish, and Los traductores de árabe del Estado español. Del Protectorado a nuestros días (Ed. Bellaterra, Barcelona 2012), which occupied him (co-authored with Dr. Juan Pablo Arias) for more than 15 years.
