I am a Marie Sklodowska-Curie research fellow at the Department of Psychobiology and the “Federico Olóriz” Institute of Neurosciences (University of Granada), investigating the learning factors involved in the aetiology of eating- and weight-related disorders. Now, at this point in my career, my research program is focused on a better understanding of the role of associative learning processes in the acquisition and maintenance of anorexia and bulimia nervosa moving from basic research to preclinical-experimental studies with patients, healthy humans and animal models.

Using translational and experimental psychopathological approaches, it is expected that my empirical efforts will allow to identify new opportunities for the development of improved behavioural treatments, diagnostic assessment and nutritional management in the field of eating disorders.

I have been a post-doc researcher and doctoral assistant at the Department of Psychology, and associate teacher of the Institute for Family Research and Counselling (University of Fribourg, Switzerland). In pursuit of excellence, I received my PhD in psychology with European Doctorate Mention in the Postgraduate-doctoral Programme in Experimental Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience (PhD programme with a Quality Mention) from the University of Granada (2011). My background includes several years studying biomedicine (University of Bordeaux II, France). I have shown pre- and post-doc international mobility in renowned research centres, including the Behavioural Neuroscience Laboratory (University of York, United Kingdom) or the Eye and Brain Mapping Laboratory (University of Fribourg). I have conducted research in 7 different labs including the Sensory Analysis Laboratory (Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina), Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry (University of Buenos Aires; Argentina) or the Laboratory for Cognitive and Neurological Sciences (University of Fribourg).

I have worked in two Spanish Ministry-funded projects (SEJ2006-13851, 2006-2008; PSI2009-10627, 2010-2012). I have also opened new research directions on eating behaviour and weight-related problems during my research stays. These have resulted in funded projects, e.g., by the Argentinean National Council of Scientific Research (2015-2017; 150K $) boosting the EU-Latin America & Caribbean Knowledge Area or the Swiss Anorexia Nervosa Foundation (principal investigator; 2017-2019; ¿150K Euros).

I have received international awards and grants such as the Swiss-European Mobility Programme, the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship for Foreign Scholars, the Ibero-America Young Teachers and Researchers Grant, the Mobility Grant offered between Andalusian and Latin American Universities, and the Mobility Grant for the European Doctorate Mention qualification.

As a lecturer, I taught courses, seminars, laboratory practices and conferences at bachelor and master levels (e.g., psychobiology of eating, psychology of flavour, experimental psychopathology, neuropsychology and education). I have received recognition for my teaching work and am accredited as PhD lecturer, PhD assistant lecturer and private universities lecturer (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain, 2012). I have extensive mentoring and supervision experience including English, French and Spanish speaking interns, bachelor and master students.
